BETON TULANGAN BAMBU SEBAGAI ALTERNATIF PENGGANTI BALOK DAN KASAU DARI KAYU

Abstract


The significant increase of wood price has resulted in the need for alternative material which can replace wood. This study is concerned with the use of bamboo-structured concrete as an alternative to balok (12x6cm beam) and “kasau” (7x5cm beam). The concrete balok and kasau are made from mixture of cement, sand and sawdust. The bamboo structure is used to support its pull-strength and bend-strength while the saw waste is put into the mixture to reduce the weight of the resulting balok or kasau. The balok test indicates a maximum bend-strength of 51.479kg/cm2 and the kasau test indicates a maximum bend-strength of 46.145kg/cm2, making both types of concrete not complying with the requirement as second class wood (725-1,100kg/cm2). The highest mixture strength pressure at 1Pc : 3Ps : 2 Gr is 53.48kg/cm2 and the lowest at 1Pc : 2.5Ps : 3 Gr is 21.48kg/cm2. The study suggests that bamboo-structured concrete as an alternative to balok and kasau needs to be further examined and developed.
