Penelitian Beberapa Aspek Biologi Ikan Serandang (Channa Pleurophthalmus) di DAS Musi, Sumatera Selatan

Azwar Said

Ikan Serandang (Channa pleourophythalmus) is a native species of Musi catchments area, Batanghari, Kapuas and Barito which have important economics’ value as consumption’s fish and also ornamental fish. The objective of this research is to find out the data and information of biological aspects which include length distribution, the relationship of length-weight, the level of gonad maturity, fecundity, number of eggs, egg’s diameter, condition factor, food habit and water quality. The method of this research is by doing field’s survey on the research location in some stations in Muara Enim district. The numbers of taking the sample are three times, that is on May, July and September of 2004, and capture of fisherman by some enumerator. The samples are observed and analyzed in laboratories. The result shows that the length of distribution is a little bit different in every station : Gumay , Arisan Belido and Beringin River. The fish’s length is 16 - 31 cm with the weight 36.6 to 430 grams. In Gumay’s river, the modus score for the fish’s length is 19.5 to 20.5 cm and between 24.5 to 25.5 cm, Arisan Belido is between 16.5 to 18.5 cm and between 27.5 to 28.5 cm and in Sungai Beringin attaches 27.5 to 28.5 cm. It shows that Ikan Serandang can grow longer than 50 cm. The growth of pattern is isometric (b = 3.15), with the significance 0.5 to 0.01, where we can measure the weight of the fish based on the length that is used to find out bio mass of fish’s population. The gonad weight is between 3.7 to 7.1 grams with the average’s 5.502 grams, the gonad maturity index is between 0.711 to 1.486 with the average’s 1.087 and fecundity’s score is 4,290 eggs to 12,233 eggs with the average’s 7,491 eggs. It shows that the number of population is not too big. The peak time for fertilization is predicted on May, July and September every year.
