KAJIAN TEKNIS DAN EKONOMIS PEMANFAATAN LIMBAH BATU BARA (FLY ASH) PADA PRODUKSI PAVING BLOCK

Abstract


The waste of coal after its usage as source of new energy is known as fly ash, which is recently available abundantly. One of efforts in using this waste material is as an additive in paving block industry. This research presents the efficiency of fly as an additive material of paving block at optimum mix composition regarding the paving block compressive strength. Based on the research results it is concluded that by adding 10 %, 20%,30 %, 40 %, 50% and 60 % of fly ash with Portland Cement or PC volume could increase the paving block compressive strength. The optimum result was achieved at 33,29 % of fly ash addition with mix composition of 1 PC: 0,3329 FA: 5 sand or PS. The compressive strength of this composition was 15,54 MPa or 4,25 MPa or 37,12 % higher than paving block without fly ash which recorded 11,45 MPa with mix composition of 1 PC : 4,14 PS. On the economic aspect the price comparison between paving block with and without fly ash at 15,70 MPa is IDR. 33.006,32 and IDR 33.740,52 per m2 respectively.
