Abstract


An alternative method for thermal diffusivity determining of a specimen in rod form was presented in this research, because the flash met d can not used it. This method is derived from unsteady state one dimensional heat transfer problem in straight fin using the Laplace Transform of heat condu on equation. Two temperature measurements of affected by arbitrary heating are versus time at positions different by using the recorded. The Laplace integral of two temperature responses allows to set out two parameters : thermal d ffusivity and Biot number of the system. This method was applied to measure thermal diffusivity of the rod. The value of a and (h/k) for brass is 33,35x10-6 m2/s and 0,4211m-1, respectively. This result was validated by Duhamel’s Theorem that the residue of the temperature measurement and calculation were small.
