Abstract


Adhesion technology in the form of laminating technique is the technique of merging small and limited size materials to become the materials which have bigger, longer, thicker and wider in size. Commercial synthetic glue in Indonesia which is commonly used for the adhesion of wood consists of for aldehyde urea and formaldehyde melamine. Lamina Bamboo has the nature of weakness in bending failure and shear failure. This research studies the i fluence on glue types, element beam of petung bamboo in shear failure. The prelimina y test was conducted to know the basic properties of bamboo petung using the ISO-1975 Standard Test Method. It was two types of testing used shear test. Pressing process was conducted by using hydraulic jack with the pressure of 2.5 MPa. The test glued-laminated beam was conducted by using static loading for four point bending condition. The result showed that basic properties of bamboo petung have strength which high enough. If bamboo is assumed as wood, according to LPMB-PKKI-1996 bamboo is classified as wood class of II. At shear test the glue of urea formaldehyde at tted and flatted gluelam petung has yield the strength, stiffness and MOR higher than glue of melamine formaldehyde. Splitted gluelam is relatively stronger than flatted gluelam. The damage of splitted and flatted gluelams tested with shear test in general represents the shear failure.
