PENGARUH TEMPERATUR TERHADAP REAKSI METANOLISIS MINYAK JELANTAH MENJADI BIODIESEL (DITINJAU SEBAGAI REAKSI HETEROGEN)

Abstract


Over the last decades, biodiesel from vegetable oil is potential as an alternative diesel fuel. The main advantages are its biod adability, renewable and improved exhaust emissions quality. This research prod biodiesel from waste oil with methanol in the presence of KOH as catalyst. The methanolysis reactions were performed in a batch reactor. The equivalent ratio of methanol-waste oil was fixed at 2 times theoretically. The temperature effect was studied at 303 to 343 K. The analytical method that was used to define the biodiese content was glycerol analysis using acetin method. The defined biodiesel concentration was used calculate the conversion of the reaction. The higher temperature, th higher biodiesel concentration result. The reaction rate constant and the value of ma s transfer coefficient were determined using Sum of Square of Errors minimization methods of triglycerid concentration. The reaction rate constant equation was influenced by temperature and the equation was k = 17400 exp ( 4476.6 (-1/T)). The value of mass transfer coefficient was almost constant.
