ADSORPSI KADMIUM DENGAN BIOMASSA BEKAS FERMENTASI PABRIK ALKOHOL

Abstract


Heavy metal adsorption by using immobilized biomass in a packed column in order to reduce heavy metal concentration in waste ater was studied. The objective of this research was to study the effect of feed rate variation to mass transfer coefficient and diffusivity on continuous adsorption process in a packed column adsorber. Experimentally the research was condu by continuous process in a packed column with immobilized biomass as the adsorbent. The biomass immobilized by silica gel. An atomic absorption spectrophotometric technique was indirectly applied to determine the adsorbed heavy metal. The result was calculated by a computerized program using numerical methods, finite difference and Hooke- Jeeves optimization. Infra red spectrophotometric techniques was applied to define functional bonds whose effect in the adsorption process.
